• 12 Months + Extension Options / Ability to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 / Minimum 4 days onsite per week

The Role As a result of ongoing investment in advanced AI capabilities, an exciting opportunity exists for a Machine Learning Researcher to lead the design, development and evaluation of a secure human-in-the-loop artificial intelligence platform. The solution will support the triage and analysis of potentially distressing digital material while reducing unnecessary investigator exposure and improving operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design multimodal ML solutions across image, video, text and audi
• Develop classification, detection and analyst-review capabilities
• Evaluate reliable, explainable and effective ML models
• Build secure, reproducible ML pipelines
• Deploy AI in secure and disconnected environments
• Translate operational needs into technical outcome
• Develop safe, auditable review tools
• Validate and assure model performance
• Conduct risk and adversarial testing
• Produce technical reports and recommendation
• Provide leadership to collaborating researchers, technical specialists and project stakeholders

Essential Experience

• Postgraduate qualification in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering or related discipline
• Demonstrated experience delivering machine learning solutions beyond proof-of-concept stage
• Advanced Python development skills
• Hands-on experience with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch
• Experience building reproducible data pipelines and deployable software solutions
• Strong understanding of model evaluation including precision, recall, class imbalance, calibration and uncertainty
• Experience working with sensitive or security-controlled information
• Ability to translate complex operational requirements into practical technical outcomes
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Strong knowledge of privacy, security, responsible AI and human oversight principles
