MACHINE MINDER – PRESS AND PUBLICATIONS UNIT The incumbent will be responsible for operating, setting up, and monitoring lithographic printing machines to ensure the efficient production of high-quality printed materials in accordance with production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Qualifications And Experience

• At least a Certificate in Lithographic Printing Technology
• Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience operating lithographic printing machines.

Skills And Abilities

• Troubleshooting skills
• Paying attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
• Good communication skills

Duties And Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties, among others:

• Operating a two-color machine, guillotine machine and plate making.
• Training of subordinates.
• Page making.
• Operating lithographic printing machines according to approved production specifications and schedules.
• Setting up printing machines and adjust paper feed, ink, registration, impression, and other operating settings to achieve the required print quality.
• Monitoring the printing process to ensure consistent quality, accurate registration, correct colour reproduction, and minimal wastage.
• Conducting routine checks on printed materials and promptly identifying and reporting print quality defects.
• Performing routine cleaning, lubrication and basic preventive maintenance of printing machines and equipment.
• Identifying and reporting machine faults and assisting with troubleshooting and corrective maintenance where required.
• Ensuring that the correct paper, inks, plates and other printing materials are used for each job.
• Maintaining accurate production records, machine logs and reports on faults, downtime and material usage.
• Following approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), occupational health and safety requirements and other relevant workplace procedures.
• Maintaining a clean, safe and orderly working area and ensuring that printing equipment is properly maintained.
• Working closely with the production team to meet set production targets and deadlines.
• Any other duties assigned by management.
