Machine Operator

About the role

LEES are looking for an experienced Machine Operator to join our growing team and help us build the infrastructure behind some seriously cool solar projects.

You’ll be working on ground-mounted solar installations, including projects on farms and rural properties throughout the region. No two days will be exactly the same - one day you could be shifting dirt, the next you’ll be helping prepare a site for a whole lot of solar power.

What you'll be doing

• Operating excavators and other machinery safely and efficiently

• Excavation and site preparation for ground-mounted solar systems

• Digging trenches and preparing foundations

• Assisting with installation of ground-mount solar structures

• Working alongside our solar and construction teams

• General farm and rural site works

• Loading, moving and placing materials

• Keeping machinery and work areas safe, tidy and well maintained

• Monitoring machine performance and making adjustments to ensure optimal functionality and output quality

• Conducting routine maintenance checks and performing basic troubleshooting on assigned equipment

• Maintaining accurate records of production runs, machine performance and any issues encountered

• Inspecting finished products for quality and compliance with specifications

• Adhering to all health and safety regulations and site-specific safety requirements

• Communicating effectively with supervisors and team members regarding machine status and production progress

• Reporting equipment faults and maintenance requirements to management promptly

• Contributing to a safe and organised work environment by maintaining cleanliness and good housekeeping standards

• Work-vehicle provided

What we're looking for

• Proven experience operating a digger/excavator

• Strong understanding of machinery safety

• A practical, can-do attitude

• Able to work independently and as part of a team

• Comfortable working outdoors and on rural/farm sites

• Good attention to detail

• Reliable, punctual and ready to get stuck in

• Class 2 / WTR endorsements would be an advantage

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and operational manuals

• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and report equipment issues

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards
