Machine Operator

Job Responsibility:

Machine Operation and Maintenance:

• Operate groundskeeping machinery, including mowers, tractors, irrigation systems, and other specialized equipment for turf care and landscaping.
• Ensure that machinery is used safely and in accordance with operational procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
• Conduct regular maintenance checks on all equipment, including routine inspections, cleaning, and reporting any faults or issues to the Grounds Deputy Manager.
• Perform minor repairs on equipment when necessary and arrange for professional service when required.

Grounds Maintenance Support:

• Assist the grounds maintenance team in maintaining sports fields, including turf mowing, grass cutting, and ensuring the correct application of fertilizers, lime, and weed control products.
• Support irrigation systems, ensuring proper functionality and reporting any issues with water supply or distribution.
• Participate in turf care activities such as fertilization, aeration, and irrigation, ensuring the sports fields are kept in top condition.
• Ensure that grass is mowed to the correct height, and areas are kept neat and well-maintained, as per the established maintenance schedules.
• Carry out waste removal and ensure that the grounds are clean, including the proper disposal of cut grass, leaves, and other debris.

Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and procedures while operating machinery, ensuring personal and team safety.

Qualification & Requirements:

Education Expected

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• A qualification in horticulture, grounds maintenance, or machinery operation is preferred.

Experience Expected

• At least 2-3 years of experience in operating grounds maintenance machinery or similar equipment.
• Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or sports turf management is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with lawn mowers, tractors, irrigation systems, and other groundskeeping machinery.
• Experience with basic maintenance and repairs of machinery is an advantage.

Technical Skills

• Proficient in operating a variety of grounds maintenance machinery, including mowers, tractors, and irrigation systems.
• Knowledgeable in basic maintenance and troubleshooting of groundskeeping equipment.
• Familiar with turf management techniques, including mowing, aeration, fertilization, and irrigation.

Soft Skills

• Ability to work well as part of a team, supporting colleagues to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
• Dependable and punctual, ensuring tasks are completed on time and with minimal supervision.
