Machine Operator/Technician

Scope of Work

The daily responsibilities of a food industry machine operator generally fall into four core operational areas:

1. Equipment Setup & Calibration

• Pre-Operation Checks: Inspect machinery for cleanliness, proper assembly, and mechanical readiness prior to production runs.
• Parameter Adjustment: Program or calibrate digital and mechanical settings (e.g., temperatures, fill weights, conveyor speeds, pressure levels) according to specific product recipes.
• Tooling & Tool Changeovers: Assemble tooling, adjust dies, and switch out equipment components during product line transitions.

2. Machine Operation & Monitoring

• Processing & Mixing: Run equipment used for grinding, blending, cooking, extruding, freezing, or pasteurizing raw food materials.
• Packaging & Filling: Control automated filling lines, canning machines, flow wrappers, labeling equipment, and metal detectors.
• Real-Time Monitoring: Keep track of line performance, feed rates, ingredient flow, and system alerts to prevent bottlenecks or material waste.

3. Food Safety, Sanitation, & Quality Control

• GMP Compliance: Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to prevent cross-contamination, foreign matter intrusion, and bacterial growth.
• Quality Assurance Checks: Routinely verify seal integrity, package weight accuracy, net volume, and proper labeling/expiration dates.
• Sanitation & CIP: Execute standard cleaning procedures (including Clean-In-Place systems) using food-grade chemicals between shifts or product batches.

4. Basic Maintenance & Documentation

• Minor Troubleshooting: Clear line blockages and fix minor mechanical or sensor glitches without needing full engineering support.
• Preventative Maintenance: Clean, lubricate, and perform minor adjustments on moving parts.
• Production Logs: Record key shift metrics such as output volume, scrap/downtime reason codes, fill weights, and quality check sign-offs
• Required Skills & QualificationsTechnical & Mechanical Skills
• Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to use hand tools, read technical manuals or setup sheets, and understand mechanical assembly.

Soft & Operational Skills

• High Attention to Detail: Essential for spotting subtle product defects, mislabeled packaging, or foreign contamination.
• Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Ability to respond quickly when a machine jams or strays outside defined tolerances.
• Communication & Teamwork: Coordination with quality assurance (QA) inspectors, maintenance technicians, and shift leads.
• Time Management: Meeting tight production schedules while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Physical Stamina: Capacity to stand, walk, bend, or crouch for extended 8- to 12-hour shifts.
• Lifting Ability: Regularly lifting and moving materials or parts weighing between 30 to 50 lbs (14–23 kg).
• Environmental Tolerance: Ability to work in varying conditions such as refrigerated cold storage, hot baking/cooking areas, high humidity, or noisy factory floors (requiring personal protective equipment like earplugs, hairnets, and safety boots).
• Food Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), GMP, and standard sanitation protocols.
• Basic Mathematics: Precision in measuring weights, calculating production rates, and unit conversions.
• Basic Computer/PLC Operation: Comfort navigating basic touchscreen Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) or automated control panels.

Pay: Php14,000.00 - Php19,000.00 per month
