Machine Shop Manager

Compensation: $105,000–$150,000 annually (Total Compensation)

InSight Manufacturing Services is looking for an experienced and motivated Machine Shop Manager to lead our machine shop operations in Murphys, California!

We're looking for a hands-on leader with extensive CNC machining experience who is passionate about quality, efficiency, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys leading a team, solving challenges, and making a direct impact on daily manufacturing operations.

What You'll Do

• Oversee daily machine shop operations, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery.
• Lead, train, mentor, and evaluate machinists, CNC operators, programmers, and other shop personnel.
• Coordinate production schedules, workflow, staffing, and resources to meet customer demands.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize production processes.
• Oversee tooling, materials, equipment maintenance, and production needs.
• Work closely with engineering, quality, and operations teams to maintain high manufacturing standards.
• Develop and support employee training programs.
• Promote a positive, safe, and accountable work environment focused on teamwork and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 10 years of experience as a CNC Machinist.
• Strong knowledge of CNC mills, lathes, machining processes, and tooling.
• Experience with CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, GibbsCAM, Esprit, or similar programs.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications.
• Strong understanding of machining strategies, cutting parameters, and cycle-time optimization.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and production goals.
• A proactive, hands-on approach to leadership and team development.
