We consider all levels of machinists. We’ll interview you first, then determine role level based on your capabilities and current shop needs.

Your mission

Transform engineering intent into reality. You’ll translate drawings and instructions into reliable set-ups, fabricate custom jigs when warranted, and keep multiple machines productive when your training and proximity allow—all while safeguarding quality, safety, and criticality protocols.

What you’ll own

  • Operation of metal-removal and metal-forming machinery within the manufacturing department.
  • End-to-end set-up of machine tools, parts, and castings to meet print specifications; plan for setup time that varies with part size and complexity.
  • Selection and use of precision measuring devices and hand tools.
  • Execution of close-tolerance machining to engineering drawings and written instructions.
  • Reading and applying drawings, sketches, and written or verbal guidance (not to conflict with PP-09-01).
  • Operation of any machine tool type for which you are qualified per the department training matrix, with minimal additional instruction.
  • Assessment of fixturing needs; design and fabrication of jigs and tooling as needed.
  • In-process quality checks to ensure all tolerances are met or exceeded.
  • Consistent practice of 5S; meticulous housekeeping; full compliance with safety and criticality procedures.
  • Loading—or coordinating loading—of the machining center.
  • Simultaneous operation of multiple machines when allowed by training, qualifications, and cell layout.
  • Optional program modification and troubleshooting, contingent on your machine qualification and training.
  • Independent work with minimal supervision.

What qualifies you

  • High school graduate or recognized equivalent.
  • 1+ year of experience with proven operational proficiency as a Westinghouse – Newington Machinist B or equivalent.
