Alum-a-Lift, a Piab Group company, is looking for a Machinist Apprentice to join our Machine Shop team. This is an opportunity to learn machining skills through hands-on training while working alongside experienced machinists in a professional manufacturing environment.
You don't need to know everything on day one. We're looking for someone who is dependable, willing to learn, comfortable working with tools and machinery, and takes pride in doing quality work.
If you've worked in manufacturing, fabrication, maintenance, automotive, welding, construction, or another hands-on environment, your experience may translate well to this role.

As a Machinist Apprentice, you'll receive training and gradually take on more responsibility as you develop your skills.
You'll learn to:
- Set up and operate machines used to manufacture production components.
- Machine and fabricate standard and custom components.
- Read and follow work instructions, drawings, and production documentation.
- Use measuring tools to inspect parts throughout the machining process.
- Perform secondary operations such as drilling, deburring, finishing, and other related processes.
- Properly use and care for hand tools, measuring equipment, and shop tooling.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and identify potential equipment issues.
- Maintain an organized inventory of shop tools and supplies.
- Identify and communicate quality, safety, equipment, or production concerns to the Machine Shop Supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Work closely with experienced machinists and other members of the Manufacturing team.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to continue building machining skills.
You'll also participate in routine shop cleaning, including sweeping and mopping floors, wiping down equipment, and participating in the rotating schedule for cleaning bathrooms and break areas.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
What We're Looking For
You may be a great fit if you:
- Are interested in learning machining and building a career in manufacturing.
- Enjoy working with your hands, tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Are mechanically inclined and enjoy figuring out how things work.
- Pay attention to detail and take pride in producing quality work.
- Can follow written and verbal instructions.
- Are comfortable asking questions when you don't understand something.
- Are dependable and consistently arrive at work on time.
- Work well with others and are willing to learn from experienced team members.
- Take safety seriously and follow established procedures.
- Are open to feedback and interested in continuously developing your skills.
Required Qualifications

- Basic math skills, including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
