Machinist Apprentice – Night Shift

About the Opportunity

Roswell Marine is looking for a dependable, motivated Machinist Apprentice I to join our night shift team. This hands-on role is an opportunity to build machining skills while supporting our CNC machinists with material preparation, machine loading, basic machining tasks, and part inspections.

The ideal candidate has mechanical aptitude, takes pride in quality work, and is eager to learn and grow toward a CNC Operator or Machinist role.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare raw materials and parts for machining.
• Assist with operating water jet and saw equipment to cut and prepare materials.
• Perform manual drilling and tapping.
• Use calipers, gauges, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to inspect parts.
• Help load and unload machines.
• Wash, record, organize, and store finished parts.
• Use hand and power tools, including drills, drill presses, grinders, and files.
• Assist with machining adjustments and process improvements under supervision.
• Learn preventive maintenance procedures for machines and related equipment.
• Keep machines and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Follow work instructions, safety procedures, and quality standards.
• Support the team with other duties as assigned.

• Willingness to learn shop math, measurement, and blueprint reading.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A reliable, positive work ethic with initiative and follow-through.
• Availability to work the scheduled night shift.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One to two years of experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
• At least one year of forklift operating experience. Forklift operation requires completion of Roswell’s forklift training and certification.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position works in a machine shop and manufacturing environment. Duties include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and using hands to handle tools and parts. Candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

• Frequently lifting or moving up to 25 pounds and regularly lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
• Using manual dexterity to handle and assemble parts accurately.
• Performing visual inspections requiring close vision, depth perception, and focus.

Safety shoes are required in machine shop and manufacturing areas, and safety glasses must be worn in designated areas.

Additional Information

• Occasional overtime, weekend work, or work on other shifts may be required based on production needs.
• A post-offer background check and drug screening may be required.
