Machinist

Must have strong manual machining, fabrication, and maintenance responsibilities.

Key Duties

• Set up and operate manual machine tools including:
• Machine new and used metal parts to precise dimensions and tolerances.
• Perform layout work from blueprints, sketches, and templates.
• Calculate dimensions, tapers, feeds, speeds, and machining requirements.
• Make and repair:
• Dismantle, assemble, align, and repair plant equipment.
• Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, levels, and protractors.
• Operate cranes and mobile equipment as required.
• Complete required reports and documentation.

Required Experience/Skills

Candidates should have experience with:

• Manual machining and lathe operation
• Blueprint reading and interpretation
• Precision measurement and inspection
• Machine setup and troubleshooting
• Plant maintenance and equipment repair
• Fabrication and fitting work
• Metalworking with steel, iron, brass, alloys, castings, forgings, and bar stock
• Close tolerance machining
• Safe operation of cranes and shop equipment

You should be proficient in:

• CNC Tooling
• Tape Measure Reading
• Machine Setups for Production Runs
• Manual Machining Skills
