Description:

The Machinist is a skilled maintenance machinist responsible for producing, modifying, and repairing precision metal parts and components for equipment across SDS Lumber facilities. The machinist reads blueprints, drawings, and specifications; calculates dimensions and tolerances; sets up and operates machine tools — lathes, milling machines, shapers, grinders, and drill presses — to machine parts to specification; welds and cuts as the job requires; and performs precision measurement with micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators. Maintenance machinists refer to blueprints to fabricate replacement parts for existing machinery, and plan each job — stock, tooling, sequence of operations, lockout requirements, and permits.

Qualifications:

· Must be 18 years of age

· Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses; measure and verify work to tolerance with precision instruments.

· Machine-shop skills including operation of lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses, plus welding and cutting

· Able to read calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and blueprints, and to calculate dimensions and tolerances

·Ability to plan jobs, study blueprints and sample parts to determine methods and sequence of operations, and diagnose machine malfunctions

Physical ability:

· Must be able to work up to 10 hours per shift

· Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds as needed

· Must be able to pass a drug screen and adhere to a no drug policy

· Involves standing for long periods of time

Shift hours and days of work:

· Days, Swing

· Weekends, and holidays

Pay:

· $30.00 - $40.00 per hr.
