Machinist

The Entry-Level Machinist supports the Product Development team by machining simple parts and assisting with shop activities. Working under the guidance of experienced personnel, this person operates machining equipment, follows drawings and work instructions, and checks completed parts for accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Machine simple parts using established instructions and approved setups.

• Assist with preparing machines, tooling, and materials for machining operations.

• Read basic part drawings and follow specified dimensions and tolerances.

• Use measuring tools, including calipers and micrometers, to inspect parts.

• Deburr, clean, and prepare completed parts for use.

• Report machining problems, damaged tooling, and nonconforming parts.

• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety procedures.

• Assist with routine machine maintenance and repairs under the direction of qualified personnel.

• Unload, identify, and safely store incoming material.

• Handle parts, tooling, and materials safely to prevent injury or damage.

• Communicate job status, material needs, and equipment issues to the supervisor.

• Basic mechanical aptitude and an interest in machining.

• Ability to follow instructions and perform basic shop math.

• Attention to detail and a willingness to learn.

• Ability to work reliably and cooperatively with others.

• Machining coursework, vocational training, or related hands-on experience is helpful but not required.
