Machinist II

Shift: 3:30 p.m.-12:00 a.m. PT Monday-Friday

Shift Differential: $1.25/hr

Job Description:

Onsite, full-time, direct production, 6-month contract-to-hire opportunities supporting second shift production output. Candidates should have hands-on CNC machining experience in aerospace, defense, precision manufacturing, or a similar high-quality production environment. Ideal candidates will be able to support machine setup, operation, tool changes, offset adjustments, blueprint reading, in-process inspection, and tight-tolerance machining. Machinist II candidates should bring stronger independent setup, troubleshooting, and production ownership than entry level Machinist candidates.

Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and mill-turn equipment to produce precision aerospace components. Work from blueprints, routers, setup instructions, and approved procedures; prepare workholding and tooling; establish offsets; verify first-piece acceptance; perform in-process inspection; make authorized adjustments; and escalate issues outside the role’s scope.

Software/Tools Used: CNC mills and lathes; target equipment/controls may include Haas, Mori Seiki, Okuma, Doosan, Makino, Mazak, Fanuc controls, 4-axis, 5-axis, mill-turn, and twin-spindle/twin-turret systems. Inspection tools may include micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, height gauges, depth mics, comparators, and CMM exposure.Multi-axis or mill-turn work, first-article inspection, quick-change tooling, and controlled speed/feed adjustments.

Gear-machining is a useful sourcing signal, not a universal requirement. Programming from scratch is not required for every opening.

Top 3 Skills:

1.CNC setup ownership, ability to explain workholding, tooling, touch-offs, offsets and first-piece acceptance in aerospace, defense, precision manufacturing, or similar production environment.

2. Ability to work second shift onsite in Valencia, CA and meet ITAR facility requirements.

3. Setup, tooling, offsets, blueprint reading, in-process inspection, and tight-tolerance machining experience. Troubleshooting, production reliability, explain a tooling set up or dimensional issue, the evidence used, authorized adjustment and verified result. Blue print reading and self inspection, interpret dimensions, GD&T, use micrometers, calipers, bore gauges.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

Aerospace manufacturing experience; AS9100 environment; CNC setup ownership; first article inspection; GD&T; ability to hold tight tolerances; ability to run multiple machines; ability to make offset/tooling/speed/feed adjustments; ability to troubleshoot independently on second shift
