Machinist II – Setup Machinist

Position Summary:

The Machinist II is responsible for setting up and running jobs independently. This role ensures machines are properly prepared, parts meet specification, and production runs efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform machine setups including fixtures, tooling, and offsets
• Adjust offsets to maintain part tolerances
• Verify first article parts meet print requirements
• Troubleshoot basic machining and production issues
• Maintain efficient machine operation and cycle flow
• Perform basic preventative maintenance (PM) as assigned
• Assist in diagnosing machine issues and minor repairs
• Identify potential problems early and escalate immediately

Required Skills:

• Strong blueprint reading
• Understanding of tooling, feeds, and speeds
• Ability to set tools and fixtures correctly
• Basic G-code understanding

• Works independently on assigned jobs
• Communicates issues early—does not wait for problems to grow
• Maintains machine uptime and efficiency
• Prepares machines and jobs in advance to prevent delays
• Does not allow small issues to become larger problems

Success Criteria:

• Jobs are set up correctly the first time
• Machines run efficiently with minimal downtime
• Low scrap and rework rates

Performance & Advancement

• Consistently performing at a higher level establishes eligibility for advancement when compensation reviews are conducted.
• Increased responsibility is earned through action and results
• Performance must be consistent over time—not based on isolated instances
• Pay adjustments are based on sustained performance and overall contribution

· Employees are expected to consistently perform at the next level before being considered for promotion or increased compensation.

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
