Machinist/Toolmaker

Job Overview

Allegheny York, a family-owned manufacturer and distributor of industrial seals, is seeking a skilled Machinist or Toolmaker to join our team in Emigsville, PA. The title and compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and education level. This is a hands-on role in a laid-back, supportive shop environment where you’ll have the autonomy to do your best work with minimal micromanagement.

Duties

• As a key member of our machine shop, you will be responsible for:
• Programming CNC mill(Haas VF3) and lathes(Mori Seiki) to produce precision molds from mild steel and aluminum
• Operating manual Bridgeport-style mills, manual lathes, and a manual surface grinder
• Designing and fabricating molds for plastic injection molding and rubber compression molding
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints to tight tolerances
• Utilizing BobCAM software for CNC programming
• Utilizing SolidWorks for CAD design (preferred)
• Performing quality inspections on finished parts to ensure dimensional accuracy
• Working independently and managing your own workflow with little direction

Requirements

We are open to a range of backgrounds — from hands-on shop experience to a journeyman toolmaker — and will adjust the job title and pay accordingly. The ideal candidate will have:

• Demonstrated experience programming and operating CNC mills and lathes
• Proficiency with manual machine tools including Bridgeport-style mills, lathes, and surface grinders
• Experience making molds or dies (preferred but not required)
• Familiarity with BobCAM or similar CAM software
• Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software (preferred)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to precision and quality
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
