Machinist/Workshop Technician

About the role

This is a workshop-based role focused on preparing, maintaining and supporting specialised portable machining equipment supplied to clients across Australia. Working with industry-leading equipment, you will play a key role in ensuring our customers receive reliable, well-maintained machinery and the technical support they need to get the job done.

Key responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing specialised portable machining equipment
• Testing and preparing equipment for hire
• Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and operational issues
• Preparing quotations and hire proposals
• Managing equipment bookings and scheduling
• Providing technical support to customers via phone and email
• Supporting internal Client Representatives with equipment selection and application advice
• Conducting pre-hire inspections and post-hire assessments
• Managing workshop inventory, consumables and tooling
• Ensuring all equipment and work practices comply with company safety and quality standards

About you

• Trade qualification as a Machinist, Fitter Machinist, Mechanical Fitter, or equivalent experience
• Experience with portable machining equipment, including mobile milling machines, flange facing machines, clamshell cutting and beveling machines
• Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding skills
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Experience maintaining precision machining equipment
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Competent computer skills
• Current Australian Driver's Licence
• Full Australian working rights
