Mactores - Senior DevOps Engineer - Cloud Infrastructure

About The Role Mactores is an agent-native AWS modernization firm. We exist to ship production systems, retire legacy infrastructure, and measure outcomes. Our delivery is built on Aedeon, an agent platform that absorbs 60-70% of repetitive engagement work like discovery, dependency mapping, validation, and test generation. Forward-deployed engineers own the architecture, judgment, and cutover.

This is a senior role in our Application & Database Modernization pillar, leading a large-scale VMware-to-AWS migration into production. You will own the judgment calls, architecture tradeoffs, cutover sequencing, and risk decisions.

What You Will Do

• Lead the design and implementation of infrastructure for a large-scale VMware-to-AWS migration.
• Architect secure, scalable, and highly available AWS environments, including Landing Zones.
• Design and implement containerized application platforms on Amazon EKS.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
• Define best practices for security, backups, HA, DR, monitoring, and operations.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and manage the complete build and release lifecycle.
• Drive automation across provisioning, deployment, and operational workflows.
• Retire legacy infrastructure and land cloud-native architectures.
• Improve and maintain DevOps platforms like Jenkins and observability stacks.
• Provide L3-level support for complex infrastructure issues.
• Work with stakeholders on technical strategy and long-term architecture.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to talent evaluation.

What We Are Looking For

• 6+ years of hands-on DevOps experience with strong cloud infrastructure expertise.
• Strong experience in VMware-to-AWS migration projects.
• 4+ years of Terraform and CloudFormation experience.
• 4+ years in configuration management and systems engineering.
• Solid Linux and/or Windows administration background.
• Deep understanding of AWS services (VPC, EC2, IAM, EKS, ECS, RDS, S3, Backup, CloudWatch).
• Experience with Kubernetes (EKS), ECS, and Docker in production.
• Hands-on experience designing HA, DR, security, and backup strategies.
• Experience with Landing Zone setup and multi-account strategy.
• Proficiency in Git branching and merging strategies.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and operational tooling.
• Proactive problem-solving mindset oriented toward reliability and scalability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience across multiple cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• AWS certifications (Solutions Architect Associate/Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional).
• Exposure to data platforms like Amazon EMR, Redshift, Lake Formation, and SageMaker.
• Experience designing cloud architectures at an L3/Architect level.
