About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Magento / Adobe Commerce Developer to join a European e-commerce project on a six-month fully remote contract.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, enhancing, integrating and supporting Magento-based e-commerce platforms. You will work closely with product managers, designers, QA engineers and other technical teams to deliver secure, scalable and high-performing solutions.

This role is suited to a hands-on Magento professional with strong PHP development experience and a proven background delivering complex e-commerce projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, customise and maintain Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce websites.
• Build and enhance Magento modules, extensions, themes and integrations.
• Develop clean, scalable and maintainable PHP code in line with Magento best practices.
• Integrate Magento with third-party systems, including ERP, CRM, payment, logistics and stock-management platforms.
• Design and consume REST and GraphQL APIs.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues, bugs and performance problems.
• Support website upgrades, security patches and version migrations.
• Optimise website performance, scalability and page-load speed.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers to implement responsive and user-friendly e-commerce experiences.
• Participate in code reviews, testing and technical documentation.
• Work with QA teams to support functional, integration and regression testing.
• Contribute to technical planning, estimations and delivery discussions.
• Ensure solutions meet security, quality and coding standards.

Skills

• Strong commercial experience with Magento 2 and/or Adobe Commerce .
• Advanced knowledge of PHP , object-oriented programming and MVC architecture.
• Experience developing Magento modules, extensions, customisations and integrations.
• Strong knowledge of MySQL and database optimisation.
• Good understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Experience with Magento APIs, REST and/or GraphQL.
• Practical experience with Git and standard development workflows.
• Experience with Composer and Magento command-line tools.
• Knowledge of caching technologies such as Varnish and Redis.
• Experience with Linux-based environments and web servers.
• Familiarity with CI/CD processes and deployment pipelines.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in Agile development teams.
• Good written and spoken English.
