Mail Engineer

Description

We are seeking a Mail Engineer with strong experience in Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace administration. This position supports a dual Microsoft and Google Workspace environment, with responsibility for mailbox administration, user provisioning, permissions management, mail flow, and daily production support. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on Microsoft Exchange administration experience and the ability to independently manage a high-volume ticket queue. Google Workspace administration experience is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Administer Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft 365, including user mailboxes, shared mailboxes, distribution lists, and mail flow configurations.

Create and manage user accounts, mailbox permissions, and access through Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.

Support Google Workspace administration, including Gmail accounts, Google Groups, shared mailbox access, and user permissions.

Configure and maintain mail forwarding between Microsoft Exchange and Google Workspace.

Execute existing PowerShell and Google Apps Manager (GAM) scripts for user provisioning, onboarding, offboarding, and routine administrative tasks.

Resolve daily production tickets involving mailbox creation, permissions, account management, calendars, and email-related issues.

Troubleshoot email delivery, mailbox access, and account provisioning issues across Microsoft and Google environments.

Support agency-wide email broadcasts and assist with message recall when necessary.

Work independently to resolve assigned tickets while coordinating with other engineers on escalations and operational issues.

Required Qualifications

5 years of hands-on Microsoft Exchange administration experience in a production environment.

Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience, particularly Exchange Online and mailbox management.

Experience with Active Directory and/or Microsoft Entra ID, including account provisioning and permissions management.

Experience creating and managing user mailboxes, shared mailboxes, distribution lists, and mail flow configurations.

Working knowledge of PowerShell, including executing existing administrative scripts.

Experience troubleshooting and resolving email, account, and permissions-related support tickets.

Ability to independently manage a high-volume production support workload.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on Google Workspace administration experience in an organizational environment, preferably supporting 4050 or more users.

Experience administering Gmail, Google Groups, user accounts, and mailbox permissions through Google Workspace Admin.

Experience supporting an environment using both Microsoft Exchange and Google Workspace.

Familiarity with Google Apps Manager (GAM) scripting.

Microsoft certifications related to Exchange, Microsoft 365, or identity administration.

Exposure to Microsoft Azure or AWS.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52.88 - $64.90/hr.
