About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Automation Manager / Specialist to join a large-scale migration project within a complex z/OS Mainframe environment.

The project involves migrating from CA OPS/MVS to IBM System Automation and is currently 50% complete. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering the remaining migration activities, with a strong focus on converting legacy REXX-based automation into IBM System Automation.

We are looking for someone with either deep hands-on expertise in both technologies or strong technical leadership and architectural skills to design and implement an efficient migration framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the migration from CA OPS/MVS to IBM System Automation.
• Analyse and convert legacy REXX automation scripts into IBM System Automation solutions.
• Design and implement automation strategies and migration frameworks.
• Develop, maintain and optimise Mainframe automation processes.
• Automate operational tasks, monitoring and incident-management activities.
• Improve system reliability, availability and operational efficiency.
• Work with z/OS, JCL, OPC/MVS and Mainframe batch processing.
• Provide L2/L3 technical support and perform root cause analysis.
• Implement technical changes through the CAB process.
• Maintain technical documentation and ensure a smooth migration.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10–20 years of relevant Mainframe experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Mainframe automation.
• Extensive knowledge of CA OPS/MVS and IBM System Automation (IBM SA) .
• Proven experience with CA-to-IBM automation tooling migrations .
• Strong experience developing and maintaining REXX scripts .
• Experience with z/OS, JCL and Mainframe batch processing.
• Ability to manage complex technical migrations or design scalable automation solutions.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Fluent English communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with OPC/MVS.
• Experience automating Mainframe monitoring and incident management.
• Knowledge of high-availability z/OS environments.
• Experience designing large-scale automation migration frameworks.
