What they need

Hands-On Repairs, Power Tools & Project Support

Industry Team of the Year 2025

About the Role

We are currently seeking a practical, hands-on Maintenance & Workshop Technician to join our Brisbane Operations Team.

This role supports the repair, maintenance and preparation of equipment used across major exhibitions, conferences and events. Working within our workshop and warehouse environment, you'll help ensure our equipment is maintained to a high standard and ready for upcoming projects.

This is a role for someone who enjoys working with their hands, takes pride in workmanship, stays organised and can be relied upon to see tasks through to completion. The position is based around general maintenance, repairs and internal project support rather than specialised fabrication work.

For larger or more complex fabrication requirements, we work closely with specialist fabricators and contractors. Your role will focus on practical repairs, modifications, preventative maintenance and workshop support.

What You'll Be Doing

Workshop & Maintenance

  • Repair and maintain exhibition equipment, furniture and event infrastructure.
  • Perform general timber, laminate, panel and hardware repairs.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, panel saws and workshop equipment safely.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and routine inspections.
  • Assist with building, modifying and refurbishing equipment when required.
  • Help maintain workshop equipment and tooling.

Warehouse & Project Support

  • Assist with equipment preparation for upcoming projects and events.
  • Support warehouse teams with equipment inspections and quality checks.
  • Respond to internal maintenance requests from Project Managers, Operations and Warehouse teams.
  • Assist with stock handling and movement of equipment when required.
  • Ensure repaired equipment is correctly stored and ready for deployment.
  • Support operational teams with urgent repairs and project-related requests.

Workshop Organisation & Housekeeping

  • Maintain a clean, organised and professional workshop environment.
  • Ensure tools, materials and consumables are properly stored and managed.
  • Take pride in keeping work areas safe, tidy and efficient.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workshop processes and equipment readiness.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Demonstrate safe use of power tools and workshop machinery.
  • Report hazards, damage and maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Maintain safe manual handling practices.
  • Contribute positively to the team and company culture.

What We're Looking For Essential

  • Experience using hand tools, power tools and general workshop equipment.
  • Practical experience in carpentry, cabinet making, maintenance, shopfitting or a similar hands-on environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.
  • Highly organised and able to maintain a tidy work environment.
  • Reliable, responsible and able to work independently.
  • Good problem-solving skills and practical mindset.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with warehouse and operations teams.

Highly Regarded

  • Experience operating a panel saw.
  • Carpentry, cabinet making or shop fitting background.
  • Forklift (LF) Licence.
  • Warehouse or logistics experience.
  • Basic fabrication, welding or metalwork experience.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, events, construction or equipment hire industries.

Why Join Moreton Hire?

  • Join an Industry Team of the Year 2025 award-winning business.
  • Work with experienced Team Leaders and Operations professionals.
  • Variety across workshop, maintenance, warehouse and project support activities.
  • Strong safety-first culture.
  • Stable, long-term role within a growing business.
  • Opportunity to support major events and projects across Australia.
