Maintenance Assistant

Job Overview:

We are seeking a reliable and proactive Maintenance Assistant to join our care home team. This role is essential in ensuring that our residents live in a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment. You will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of maintenance tasks, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the home.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, basic electrical work, painting, and general upkeep
• Ensure all equipment, fixtures, and facilities are safe and in good working order
• Conduct regular health and safety checks and report any issues promptly
• Maintain outdoor areas, including gardens, pathways, and car parks
• Respond quickly to maintenance requests from staff and residents
• Assist with room preparation and refurbishment when needed
• Liaise with external contractors and service providers as required
• Keep accurate records of maintenance work and compliance checks

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a maintenance or handyman role
• Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations
• Practical skills across multiple trades (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, decorating)
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Good communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
• Understanding of working within a care environment (desirable but not essential)
