With more than 40 years of experience, we process over 200,000 tonnes of hazardous and liquid waste every year across three UK sites, recycling more than 65% of all material received. Our Ilkeston site is home to our East Midlands headquarters, laboratories and treatment operations, running around the clock to support customers across the UK.
We're looking for a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our night shift team, helping to keep our plant operating safely, efficiently and reliably.
The Role
Working as part of our maintenance team, you will carry out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across a wide range of industrial equipment and processing plant. You'll play a key role in minimising downtime, identifying reliability improvements and ensuring our operations continue running safely throughout the night.
This is a practical, hands-on engineering position suited to someone with strong mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience gained within an industrial, manufacturing, process, recycling or similar environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance activities across site plant and equipment.
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
- Responding to breakdowns and minimising production downtime.
- Maintaining pumps, conveyors, shredders, pipework, motors, gearboxes, valves and associated plant equipment.
- Supporting continuous improvement and reliability projects.
- Following site permit-to-work and LOTOTO procedures.
- Recording maintenance activities accurately within the CMMS system.
- Identifying defects and recommending corrective actions.
- Working safely and ensuring company health, safety and environmental standards are maintained at all times.
What You'll Need
- Recognised engineering qualification such as an NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship or equivalent.
- Experience in an industrial, manufacturing, processing, recycling or heavy engineering environment.
- Strong fault-finding and maintenance skills.
- Knowledge of planned and reactive maintenance practices.
- Experience using maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Ability to work independently during night shifts and make sound engineering decisions.
- A proactive and safety-focused approach.
Desirable Skills
- Mechanical and electrical maintenance experience.
- Working at Height and Confined Space qualifications.
- MEWP licence.
- Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence.
- Experience working on process plant, waste treatment, chemical, manufacturing or recycling facilities.
- Permit-to-work and LOTOTO experience.
What We Offer
- Permanent, full-time night shift position.
- Competitive salary and shift allowance.
- Overtime opportunities.
- Ongoing training and funded qualifications.
- A published career progression structure with clear development opportunities.
- The chance to work on varied industrial equipment including shredders, conveyors, tankers, reactors, pumps, pipework and process systems.
- A supportive team environment with long-term career prospects.
