Working across a London property portfolio, you will assist in undertaking general maintenance and minor repairs, conduct building inspections and ensure all health and safety checks are completed and recorded accurately.

This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their work, can manage their own task list and understands the importance of completing maintenance activity professionally within occupied commercial buildings.

  • Maintain clear testing records for audits.
  • Plan and organise daily tasks in conjunction with the Building Manager.
  • Keep supplier contact, stock and building information up to date.
  • Respond promptly to requests from the Head of Operations and building teams.
  • Maintain accurate records using the company’s systems and software.
  • Keep maintenance areas, cupboards and workspaces clean and organised.
  • Ensure consistently high visual and presentation standards across all buildings.

Practical duties

  • Painting and decorating.
  • Preparing, sanding and filling walls.
  • Minor low-voltage electrical tasks, including changing light bulbs.
  • Minor plumbing repairs and unblocking toilets.
  • Repairing door handles, hinges and closers.
  • Hanging whiteboards, televisions and artwork.
  • Laying carpet tiles and moving floor boxes.
  • Minor tiling work.
  • Building and moving furniture.
  • Sweeping courtyards and supporting the general upkeep of communal areas.

Essential

  • Practical knowledge of basic plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Experience using hand and power tools safely.
  • Knowledge of common building materials, paints and finishes.
  • An understanding of suitable fixings, mounting brackets and weight limitations.
  • Awareness of current health and safety requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • A proactive approach and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills.
  • The ability to organise a task list and remain motivated without constant supervision.
  • Willingness to work within a busy, client-facing environment.

Desirable

  • Previous building maintenance experience within commercial or residential properties.
  • Good geographical knowledge of London.
  • Basic IT skills.
