About the role:

We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering/Maintenance department reporting to the Site Engineering Manager.

The main purpose of this role is to provide front-line engineering support to the manufacturing operations and ensure that plant runs effectively and efficiently. This is a hands-on role where you will be either in the workshop or out on the production lines for most of your time, ensuring equipment and facilities function reliably and efficiently. You will be involved in preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance, to minimise downtime, reduce costs and maximise productivity.

You will have a flexible approach to work, understanding that you may undertake additional or alternative duties necessary to get the job done.

Currently, normal hours of work are Monday–Friday, 06.30 to 16.15. This work pattern is subject to change and candidates must be willing to work a shift rota/system that may include out-of-hours and night shift working. This is a site-based role. Applicants should be within commuting distance of Forres (Moray, Scotland) or willing to relocate.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Provide front line multi-disciplinary engineering support to manufacturing operations, ensuring plant and equipment operates safely, effectively and efficiently
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) inspections and maintenance activities, identifying defects and potential failures before they impact production
  • Diagnose and resolve faults on a wide range of manufacturing plant and equipment
  • Respond to breakdowns and reactive maintenance requirements, minimising downtime and disruption to production
  • Carry out repairs, modifications, overhauls and maintenance activities both on the plant and within the engineering workshop
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary maintenance team, supporting continuous improvement and reliability of plant and equipment
  • Follow and contribute to the site planned maintenance programme, ensuring maintenance activities are completed effectively and recorded accurately.
  • Identify recurring faults and equipment issues and contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Follow all Health, Safety, Quality and Engineering procedures, including the correct use of permit-to-work systems, isolation procedures, method statements and dynamic risk assessments
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping, cleanliness and workshop organisation across the engineering and production areas
  • Liaise effectively with production and engineering colleagues to prioritise maintenance activities and minimise the impact on manufacturing
  • Think practically and improvise where appropriate during breakdown situations, using engineering knowledge and experience to safely restore production
  • Assist with the installation, commissioning and modification of new and existing plant and equipment as required.

Skills & Experience:

  • A team player with a strong sense of personal responsibility/ownership and a positive “can do” attitude
  • Experience working within an industrial/manufacturing environment and able to perform under pressure
  • Proven track record and experience of a similar maintenance engineering role within a production environment
  • Time served or equivalent qualification in mechanical/maintenance engineering
  • Good practical knowledge of mechanical maintenance, fault finding and repair of industrial plant and machinery
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors and associated mechanical equipment
  • Basic computer skills including data entry
  • Full driving licence
  • Be safety conscious

Remuneration and benefits:

  • Competitive rate of pay
  • 33 days annual leave (including statutory holidays)
  • Employer pension contribution
  • Health & Wellbeing services (remote GP’s, mental health support, physio)
  • Life assurance cover after 3 months
