Maintenance Engineer – Ramsden Steel Drums

Location: Tipton, West Midlands
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 4:00pm (Full Time, Permanent)

Based in Tipton, West Midlands, we have been manufacturing high-quality steel drums since 1997 and have a proud heritage in the industry dating back to 1956. We supply customers across the petrochemical, chemical, lubricant, automotive, food and beverage sectors, where quality, safety and reliability are critical.

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team and help keep our production machinery and plant operating safely and efficiently.

The Role

This is a hands-on position ideally suited to an electrically biased or multi-skilled engineer with experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial environments.

Key responsibilities include:

• Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and breakdown repairs
• Electrical and mechanical fault finding
• Maintaining production and automated machinery
• PLC fault diagnosis and troubleshooting
• Supporting continuous improvement projects
• Assisting with machinery installation and upgrades
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures
• Working closely with production teams to minimise downtime

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Proven maintenance engineering experience within manufacturing, heavy industrial, steel processing or similar environments
• Strong electrical fault-finding skills
• Experience with production machinery and plant equipment
• Good understanding of preventative maintenance and health & safety
• A practical, proactive approach to problem solving

Desirable:

• PLC fault-finding experience
• Experience with conveyors, automation or production lines
• Welding, fabrication or mechanical fitting skills
• Previous experience within steel or metal manufacturing

Qualifications are less important than experience. We are looking for someone with a strong track record of maintaining industrial machinery and keeping production running.
