Search Recruitment has partnered with Prolam to recruit a Maintenance Engineer to join their operations in Tasman. Working primarily on an afternoon/evening shift paired with another Maintenance Engineer, this role focuses on completing planned preventative maintenance (PM) and fixing machinery faults outside peak day production hours—ensuring maximum reliability and reducing downtime.

• Attractive Pay & Shift Allowance: $45.00 – $50.00/hr base rate + a generous 12.5% evening shift allowance paid across the entire shift. Overtime paid at 1.5x for hours over 45.5 hrs/week.

Key Responsibilities

• Preventative Maintenance: Complete scheduled PM tasks to specification during the afternoon/evening shift to eliminate PM backlog and prevent unexpected breakdowns.
• Fault Finding & Repair: Diagnose, repair, realign, and reset mechanical machinery to specification; identify root causes so issues don't recur.
• Continuous Improvement: Spot recurring plant failures and turn them into long-term site improvements while keeping parts inventory and work order records accurate.
• Safe Systems of Work: Strictly follow isolation procedures, operate under safe working protocols, and report hazards or incidents promptly.
• Seamless Handovers: Use shift overlap to communicate clearly with day engineers and Lead Engineers on work completed, outstanding tasks, and plant risks.
• Equipment Setup & Housekeeping: Leave machines, work areas, and workshop spaces clean, tidy, and safe for production crews to run smoothly.
• Work Recording & Spares Management: Accurately log maintenance reports, write up findings, and book out parts against work orders in the system.
• Knowledge Sharing: Coach production operators on routine maintenance checks and collaborate with shift partners to build team capability.

What You Bring

• Background & Experience: Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, machinery fault-finding, and equipment repair within manufacturing, heavy industry, timber, or trade environments.
• Safety Focus: Uncompromising commitment to health and safety, including safe systems of work and isolation protocols.
• Self-Management & Drive: Ability to work methodically through PM lists without direct supervision, reprioritising quickly when urgent repairs arise.

• Teamwork: Collaborative approach to working in a pair and supporting production colleagues.
