Maintenance Engineer (Junior-Senior Level)

Position Overview

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and safe operation of production machinery and equipment. The position performs preventive and corrective maintenance, machinery inspections, troubleshooting, equipment replacement, and maintenance support for production lines.

The role works closely with Production and other relevant departments to minimize equipment downtime, maintain smooth production operations, ensure machinery safety, and continuously improve maintenance processes and equipment reliability.

Key Responsibilities

1. Machinery Maintenance & Production Support

• Receive maintenance policies, instructions, and assignments from supervisors and carry out maintenance activities accordingly.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for assigned production machinery and equipment.
• Provide general maintenance support for production lines based on maintenance requests or work orders.
• Inspect machinery and equipment to ensure operational readiness and identify potential problems before breakdowns occur.
• Troubleshoot machinery and equipment failures and determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Carry out machinery repair, adjustment, replacement, and improvement activities as assigned.
• Perform machinery lifting, installation, replacement, and relocation according to approved plans and safety requirements.
• Support production operations by responding to equipment breakdowns and minimizing unplanned downtime.
• Report maintenance activities, problems, repair status, and work results to the supervisor.

2. Preventive Maintenance & Equipment Inspection

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance activities according to established maintenance schedules.
• Conduct routine inspections of production machinery, equipment, and related systems.
• Identify abnormal conditions, potential equipment failures, and maintenance requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of machinery inspections, maintenance activities, breakdowns, and repairs.
• Follow up on recurring equipment problems and recommend appropriate corrective or preventive actions.
• Support continuous improvement of machinery reliability and maintenance efficiency.

3. Spare Parts & Maintenance Resources

• Check and maintain the availability of required spare parts, tools, and maintenance equipment.
• Identify spare parts required for preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Coordinate with relevant departments regarding spare part requirements and availability.
• Ensure appropriate storage and use of maintenance materials and equipment.
• Support inventory control of critical spare parts to minimize maintenance delays.

4. Forklift & Equipment Safety

• Operate a forklift when required for maintenance activities.
• Conduct pre-operation inspections to ensure the forklift is in safe and proper working condition before use.
• Report any abnormal conditions or safety concerns related to the forklift or other equipment immediately.
• Follow all company safety procedures and applicable regulations when operating machinery and material-handling equipment.
• Ensure maintenance activities are performed safely and do not create risks to employees, equipment, or production operations.

5. Maintenance Planning & Coordination

• Coordinate maintenance activities with Production and other relevant departments to minimize disruption to manufacturing operations.
• Support the planning and scheduling of preventive maintenance activities.
• Coordinate equipment shutdowns and maintenance activities according to production requirements.
• Participate in maintenance improvement projects and equipment modification initiatives.
• Coordinate with contractors or external service providers when required.
• Monitor maintenance work to ensure completion according to specifications, quality requirements, and schedules.

6. Quality Management & Compliance

• Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
• Comply with company policies, procedures, work instructions, and quality standards.
• Ensure maintenance activities are properly documented and traceable.
• Support internal and external audits related to maintenance, equipment, quality, and compliance.
• Ensure maintenance activities comply with applicable safety, environmental, quality, and legal requirements.

7. Safety, Environment & Sustainability

• Strictly comply with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
• Conduct maintenance activities in accordance with established safety standards and work permits.
• Identify and report potential safety hazards associated with machinery and maintenance activities.
• Support initiatives to reduce energy consumption, equipment losses, waste, and environmental impact.
• Ensure maintenance activities are conducted in a manner that minimizes environmental impact.
• Participate in safety, environmental, 5S, Kaizen, QCC, and other continuous improvement activities.

8. Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve machinery reliability, maintenance processes, productivity, and cost efficiency.
• Analyze recurring machinery problems and recommend long-term solutions.
• Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive action activities.
• Support initiatives to reduce machine breakdowns and unplanned downtime.
• Participate in 5S, Kaizen, QCC, and other operational improvement projects.
• Share technical knowledge and best practices with maintenance team members and relevant departments.

9. Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare maintenance reports, equipment inspection records, breakdown reports, and other required documentation.
• Monitor maintenance activities and provide regular updates to the supervisor.
• Report significant equipment failures, safety concerns, maintenance risks, and operational issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records.
• Provide technical information and recommendations to support management decision-making.

10. Other Responsibilities

• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor or management.
• Support emergency maintenance activities when required.
• Provide technical assistance to Production and other departments as appropriate.
• Maintain professional knowledge of machinery, maintenance technology, and industrial engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or Technical Education, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in machinery maintenance, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance of production machinery is preferred.
• Forklift operation experience or certification would be an advantage.
• Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment and respond to maintenance issues in a timely manner.
