Maintenance Grader Operator/Labourer

About the role

The Shire of Murchison is seeking an experienced Maintenance Grader Operator/Labourer to join our team in Murchison, WA 6630. This is a full-time position based on-site, where you will play a critical role in maintaining and developing the local road infrastructure and facilities. Your work will directly impact the accessibility and safety of our community.

What you'll be doing

• Operating graders and other heavy plant machinery to maintain roads, ensuring surfaces meet safety and quality standards

• Performing routine maintenance on roads, including grading, pothole repairs and drainage management

• Assisting with the installation and repair of road infrastructure, including culverts, signs and safety features

• Operating heavy machinery safely and in accordance with all relevant legislation and regulations

• Maintaining equipment and reporting any faults or maintenance requirements to supervisors

• Working collaboratively with the maintenance team to meet project deadlines and community needs

• Adhering to all workplace health and safety protocols and contributing to a safe work environment

• Camping out. Due to the vastness of Murchison 80-90% of work will have you in the bush Monday to Friday.

What we're looking for

• A current, unrestricted HC class drivers license.
• Proven experience operating graders, earthmoving equipment and other heavy plant machinery in road maintenance or construction environments
• Knowledge of road maintenance standards and construction practices relevant to rural road networks
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety compliance, including understanding of risk management
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions
• Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work with strong teamwork capabilities
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and fault diagnosis
