Maintenance Handyman

Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and versatile Handy Man to join our maintenance team, dedicated to ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of our facilities. In this role, you will perform a wide range of repair, maintenance, and improvement tasks across residential and commercial properties. Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical equipment.
• Perform repairs and upgrades using skills in welding, electrical work, and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to diagnose issues accurately.
• Operate tools such as ohmmeters, power drills, saws, and other hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Manage facilities maintenance tasks including painting (residential), carpentry, drywall repair, flooring installation, and general maintenance person duties.
• Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software to document work orders, track maintenance history, and schedule future tasks.
• Supervise or coordinate with subcontractors or team members during complex projects or repairs.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards and local building codes.
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing client needs promptly and professionally during residential or commercial projects.
• Assist in supervising maintenance staff or apprentices to foster a collaborative team environment.

Requirements

• Proven experience in facilities maintenance or maintenance person roles within manufacturing or residential settings.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read schematics and technical diagrams.
• Skilled in welding techniques with the ability to handle various metalworking tasks safely.
• Electrical experience including troubleshooting circuits using tools like ohmmeters; familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is a plus.
• Knowledge of residential painting techniques and general carpentry skills.
• Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals accurately.
• Experience working with CMMS software for maintenance tracking is preferred.
• Supervising or leadership experience in a maintenance environment is advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills in English for clear documentation and customer interactions.
• Familiarity with manufacturing environments or large facilities maintenance is desirable.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces safely.
