Job Purpose

The Maintenance / Make Ready Coordinator helps keep ROMCO’s Houston branch organized, safe, and ready to serve customers. This hands-on role coordinates incoming equipment and make-ready priorities, supports wash rack and parts warehouse operations, maintains accurate yard inventory, and assists with general building and grounds upkeep. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, mechanically inclined, and comfortable balancing physical work with basic computer and administrative tasks in a fast-paced equipment environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Equipment and Yard Coordination

o Receive equipment arriving at the yard and help coordinate its placement.

o Monitor third-party freight companies entering and leaving the yard.

o Work with the Product Support Manager and Shop Foreman to prioritize machinery make-ready activities.

o Conduct yard inventory and update equipment hour-meter readings.

• Wash Rack Operations

o Safely clean machinery according to established wash rack procedures, using a water hose only and no equipment for scraping.

o Keep the wash rack clean, organized, and free of debris.

o Perform routine maintenance on the holding tank as needed.

o Monitor and maintain the water recycling system and sprinkler functions.

• Parts Warehouse Support

o Receive and put away stock.

o Clean shelves and relocate parts bins as needed.

o Assist with inventory-related activities.

• Building and Grounds Upkeep

o Pick up litter daily in the shop, yard, and surrounding grounds.

o Keep the central area between buildings clear of mud and debris.

o Sweep the shop and parts warehouse.

o Complete minor repairs in the office, warehouse, and shop.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Basic clerical and computer skills, including typing, filing, data entry, spreadsheets, and email.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, follow a schedule, and meet deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Mechanical aptitude and a broad understanding of construction equipment.
• Ability to work safely in a shop, yard, warehouse, and outdoor environment.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum of two years of related hands-on experience in equipment, yard, warehouse, facilities, or make-ready operations.

Work Environment and Schedule
This position is based in a shop environment at ROMCO’s Houston branch, located at 3833 S. Sam Houston Pkwy E, Houston, TX 77047. Typical operating hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional work outside standard hours for meetings, training, projects, or business needs. Some travel may be required. The employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and loud noise.
