What they need
Build a Maintenance Team That's Ready for What's Next!
We're looking for a Maintenance Manager who sees maintenance as more than fixing what's broken.
This is an opportunity for a hands-on, strategic leader to help shape how maintenance supports our Turtle Lake operation; developing a strong team, improving reliability, strengthening preventive maintenance, and working closely with Production to stay ahead of the needs of the plant.
Our goal is simple: we don't want to be reactionary.
We want a Maintenance Manager who can look ahead, build a plan, execute against it, and create an environment where our Maintenance Technicians know what needs to be done, have the tools and knowledge to do it well, and are continuously developing their skills.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead & Develop the Maintenance Team
Your most important responsibility is leading the people behind the operation.
You'll:
- Lead, coach, and develop our Maintenance Technicians while creating clear expectations and accountability.
- Understand the strengths of each team member and help them continue building their technical knowledge and capabilities.
- Identify skill gaps and create opportunities for training, cross-training, and development.
- Make sure the team has clear priorities and productive work to move forward, even when there isn't an immediate breakdown demanding their attention.
- Build a culture where technicians take ownership, solve problems, share knowledge, and continuously improve.
- Create an environment where safety, quality, teamwork, and accountability are part of how the team operates every day.
Build a Proactive Maintenance Strategy
We aren't looking for someone who spends every day chasing the next breakdown.
You'll work to move our maintenance operation toward a more planned, preventive, and strategic approach by:
- Developing, scheduling, and executing preventive maintenance programs.
- Planning maintenance activities around production needs and priorities.
- Working closely with Production leadership to coordinate downtime, repairs, PMs, and improvement projects.
- Identifying recurring equipment issues and addressing root causes rather than repeatedly treating symptoms.
- Prioritizing maintenance work based on safety, production impact, equipment reliability, and business needs.
- Planning ahead for upcoming projects, shutdowns, maintenance needs, parts, labor, and contractor support.
- Using maintenance data and equipment history to identify trends and improve reliability.
Bring Strong Technical Knowledge
You don't need to personally make every repair, but you do need the technical foundation to effectively lead the people who do.
We're looking for strong knowledge and experience with:
- PLC systems and troubleshooting.
- Manufacturing equipment maintenance and reliability.
- Electrical systems and troubleshooting experience is strongly preferred.
- Mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated production systems.
- Preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Root-cause troubleshooting and equipment reliability.
You'll be expected to provide technical guidance, ask the right questions, help your team work through difficult problems, and know when additional expertise or outside support is needed.
Partner Across the Plant
Maintenance and Production can't operate independently of one another.
You'll build a strong partnership with Production leadership to understand priorities, plan maintenance effectively, communicate equipment concerns, and balance immediate production needs with the long-term health of our equipment.
You'll also:
- Build and manage productive relationships with vendors and contractors.
- Coordinate outside services, repairs, installations, and specialized maintenance support.
- Help ensure contractors working onsite meet FrieslandCampina's safety and operational expectations.
- Support maintenance inventory and critical spare-parts planning; previous inventory management experience is helpful, but not required.
- Communicate clearly with plant leadership about equipment reliability, priorities, risks, projects, and maintenance needs.
Safety Comes First
Safety isn't something we delegate to the Safety team, it's part of how Maintenance operates.
As Maintenance Manager, you'll be expected to create genuine safety ownership within your team and lead by example every day.
You'll work closely with the site's Safety Lead and FrieslandCampina's Wisconsin EHS Manager to:
- Reinforce safe maintenance practices and expectations.
- Ensure technicians and contractors follow required safety procedures.
- Identify and address potential hazards.
- Support plant safety initiatives and continuous improvement.
- Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits.
- Help turn audit findings into sustainable improvements.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who brings both technical credibility and a leadership mentality.
You'll likely be a great fit if you:
- Have leadership experience within manufacturing maintenance.
- Have maintenance experience within food & beverage manufacturing; experience in dairy or a similarly regulated manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
- Bring strong PLC knowledge and troubleshooting experience.
- Understand preventive maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution.
- Know how to balance immediate equipment needs with longer-term reliability.
- Enjoy developing people and helping technicians grow their skills.
- Can hold people accountable while still being approachable and supportive.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with Production and other plant leaders.
- Are comfortable managing vendors, contractors, and outside service providers.
- Bring strong electrical knowledge or experience, which is highly preferred.
- Are organized, safety-minded, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
Who Thrives Here
The person we're looking for doesn't measure a successful day by how many fires they personally put out, instead they build a team and a maintenance program that prevents as many of those fires as possible.
You're someone who walks the floor, understands what's happening with the equipment and your people, and is already thinking about tomorrow, next week, and next month.
You develop your technicians instead of simply directing them. You partner with Production instead of waiting for a work order. You recognize recurring problems and ask why they keep happening. And when there isn't an emergency, you don't assume there's nothing to do, you use that opportunity to make the operation stronger.
Our Values
How we work matters just as much as what we accomplish.
At FrieslandCampina, we:
- We Act with Respect
- We Aim Higher
- We Succeed Together
For this role, that means developing your people, challenging the team to continuously improve, partnering across departments, and building a maintenance organization that people can depend on.
