What they need

Big company opportunity. Small company attitude. This Maintenance Manager role offers the chance to shape how a manufacturing site protects its people, equipment, facilities, and performance. You will lead progressive maintenance practices that move work toward predictive, preventive, and planned execution while strengthening mechanical reliability.

You will have direct responsibility for production equipment, utilities, and building structures. You will also support and sustain food safety, food safety culture, and quality practices required through SQF, partnering across operations to improve equipment uptime, cost, and long-term asset care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Maintenance Department through a preventive maintenance strategy that keeps equipment, facilities, and systems safe, efficient, and reliable while supporting an accident-free workplace and food safety and quality standards.
  • Lead, hire, select, train, coach, and develop a multi-skilled technician team so employees are qualified to perform work effectively and safely.
  • Drive continuous improvement and effective use of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), including planning, scheduling, work management, data accuracy, accountability, and standardized processes.
  • Build strong work-control practices and expand Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) to support long-term asset care plans for critical process equipment.
  • Manage the operation and maintenance of HVAC systems, gas-fired industrial roasters, and glycol systems.
  • Oversee maintenance parts and supplies procurement and inventory to advance reliability and cost objectives.
  • Create and maintain technical training that builds equipment knowledge and troubleshooting capability.
  • Maintain key performance indicators that connect maintenance activity with production-line reliability and cost.
  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets, annual plans, and long-range maintenance and utilities strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local codes.
  • Partner with Operations Management to align resources, budgets, priorities, and schedules while supporting production.
  • Create a work environment that encourages participation, positive employee relations, accountability, and development opportunities.

Why You'll Love This Role

  • Make a visible impact on equipment reliability, production uptime, safety, food safety, and quality.
  • Shape maintenance strategy, CMMS discipline, and asset-care practices across a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Lead and develop a multi-skilled technical team while building sustainable training and work processes.
  • Collaborate closely with operations leaders and influence site priorities, resources, and long-range plans.
  • Bring big ideas to a company that pairs meaningful opportunity with an inviting, hands-on culture.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required; an engineering degree is preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing or similarly complex operating environment.
  • At least 8 years of supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge across maintenance, plant engineering, and manufacturing disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and sustain standardized maintenance and reliability processes.
  • Experience improving CMMS work management, data quality, planning and scheduling discipline, and consistent system use.
  • Ability to build and launch programs, set clear expectations, measure adoption, and hold teams accountable for sustained execution.
  • Ability to hire, plan, organize, set department objectives, direct work, coach, counsel, train, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Ability to identify process gaps, establish priorities, develop practical solutions, and build support for long-term maintenance and reliability practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineering degree preferred.
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification preferred, or ability to achieve certification within 12 months.
  • Food industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with self-directed work teams and autonomous maintenance preferred.

Success in This Role

  • Lead through behavior and action, with strong communication and the ability to influence team members, peers, and support resources.
  • Translate broader business objectives into practical maintenance strategies and tactics.
  • Build collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization and with vendors, suppliers, inspectors, customers, and consultants.
  • Solve technical problems, respond effectively to urgent situations, and plan proactively to reduce future disruptions.
  • Consider the impact of decisions and policies within and beyond the immediate work group.
