Maintenance Mechanic

Goya Foods, Inc., a leader in the food industry located in Angola, New York is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to provide support to the Plant General Manager and the maintenance team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

ü Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing repairs and preventive/predictive maintenance on all production systems.

ü Basic repairs and preventive maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical equipment including, but not limited to power transmission, drives, and general machine systems.

ü Performs repairs, maintenance, and assists with installation of machines, using hand and power tools and test equipment to ensure continuous production operations.

ü Performs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric, power, gas, or air required for operations.

ü Installs, starts up, and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.

ü Ability to climb in overhead structures, work on ladders and high lifts, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work. Must be highly safety conscious with knowledge and experience with OSHA regulations.

ü Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced food processing/manufacturing environment.

ü Basic industrial welding, plumbing, electrical

ü Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.

ü Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.

ü Repairs or replaces defective parts.

Candidate must be able to utilize the four main principles of troubleshooting i.e., Investigating, Evaluating, Repair and Prevention and have excellent cognitive skills and the ability to work under pressure. Candidate must also have the ability to use all shop equipment i.e. milling machine, welding equipment and cutting tools. Also, experience with preventive maintenance programs with work orders and inspection routines and experience requesting parts.

One-to-two-year certificate from college or technical school, 5 to 7 plus years of related packaging experience and/or training in the food industry. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including, but not limited to, skill set, experience, qualifications, education, and other job-related reasons.

Salary: $32.00 - $36.00 Per Hours

Schedule: Monday - Saturday
