Maintenance Officer

ROLE:

The post holder is required to undertake a range of day-to- day maintenance, caretaking and grounds maintenance duties within the Home, including minor repairs and redecoration, ensuring that all required duties are carried out to a high standard. The duties to be carried out will vary depending on the needs of the Home. The following tasks are a guide to what will normally be expected. The post holder will liaise closely and on a daily basis with the Home Manager in prioritising work and all duties must be carried out flexibly and in accordance with all relevant Health and Safety legislation.

KEY DUTIES:

1. All aspects of grounds maintenance, including grass cutting, care of beds, plants, weeding, edging, tree maintenance, power hosing and maintenance of outbuildings as required

2. All aspects of caretaking duties, including building upkeep.

3. Day-to-day repair and maintenance duties.

4. The monitoring and maintenance of all heating and lighting equipment including generators.

5. Assisting management with fire alarm testing, call alarm systems and emergency lighting systems.

6. To undertake day to day plumbing and carpentry repairs.

7. Maintaining equipment within the home in a safe manner.

8. Assist with moving furniture and goods’ deliveries to maintain the smooth running of the Home.

9. All work must be carried out having full regard to health and safety matters at all times. Risk assesments must be carried out for all duties carried out by the post holder prior to any work commencing. The post holder must ensure all work carried out has considered the risks to clients, visitors and staff in the Home.

10. Make recommendation son improving the Home and grounds and in methods of carrying out the required duties. Monitor and advise the Home Manager on the performance of outside contractors.

11. Ensure that all duties are carried out in accordance with Manor Healthcare’s Policies and to maintain necessary confidentiality at all times.

12. To ensure R.Q.I.A. Estates Minimum Standards are adhered to.

13. Comply with the Health and Safety and Fire Regulations.

14. To carry out any other duties which are reasonable and commensurate with the level of responsibility of this post.

Pay: £31,434.00 per year
