What they need
We are looking for a reliable, practical and hands-on Maintenance Person to join our team at our small, 20-bedroom boutique hotel.
This is a varied role for someone who enjoys fixing things, takes pride in their work and can help keep our hotel looking it's best. You will be responsible for general day-to-day maintenance, minor repairs and preventative maintenance throughout the hotel, including guest bedrooms, bathrooms, public areas and the building itself.
We are looking for a good all-rounder with practical maintenance skills who can work independently, use their initiative and help ensure everything is kept in good working order.
We use specialist contractors for larger plumbing and electrical jobs, so you won't be expected to undertake major or specialist work beyond your skills and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out general repairs and day-to-day maintenance throughout the hotel.
- Basic plumbing repairs, including leaking taps, toilet flushes, showers and blockages.
- Basic electrical maintenance, such as maintaining lighting, repairing equipment and identifying and reporting electrical faults.
- Painting and decorating, including touching up paintwork, filling holes and preparing surfaces.
- Minor tiling, flooring, grouting and silicone repairs.
- General carpentry and repairs to doors, handles, hinges, locks, furniture and fixtures.
- Maintaining guest bedrooms and bathrooms to a high standard.
- Carrying out routine inspections and preventative maintenance checks.
- Basic fire safety awareness, including weekly and monthly testing, identifying and reporting defects with fire doors, emergency lighting and other safety equipment. Training will be given if needed.
- General upkeep of the hotel's internal and external areas.
- Keeping tools, equipment and work areas clean, tidy and safe.
- Responding to maintenance requests and liaising with management and specialist contractors where required.
About You
- Practical and hands-on, with good all-round DIY and maintenance skills.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical maintenance, painting, tiling and flooring.
- Confident using tools and equipment safely.
- Able to work independently, prioritise jobs and use your own initiative.
- Reliable, organised and takes pride in the quality of your work.
- Friendly and professional when working around hotel guests.
- Understands the importance of health and safety and when specialist contractors are required.
Previous experience in hotel maintenance, property maintenance, facilities maintenance or a similar role would be an advantage.
The Role
- Hours: 20–30 hours per week.
- Working pattern: To be agreed with the successful candidate.
- Salary: Dependent on experience and to be reviewed after a 3 month probation.
- Location: Lincoln
Pay: £12.50-£14.00 per hour
