Maintenance Person

Are you practical, organised and keen to make a difference to people’s daily lives? We’re looking for a Maintenance Operative to help keep Jubilee Care Home safe, comfortable and well presented. Reporting to the Home Manager you’ll carry out everyday repairs and planned maintenance while respecting residents’ dignity, privacy and routines.

What You’ll Be Doing

· Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs, including decorating, basic joinery and minor plumbing work, within your training and authorisation.

· Completing planned maintenance and assigned safety checks, keeping accurate records and reporting faults promptly.

· Helping prepare residents’ rooms and keeping communal areas, paths and grounds well maintained.

· Working with colleagues and approved contractors to resolve maintenance issues with minimal disruption.

· Keeping tools and materials secure and following safe working and infection prevention procedures.

· Recognising when specialist support is needed and escalating work beyond your competence or authorisation.

What We’re Looking For

· Practical experience in property maintenance, general repairs or a similar hands-on role.

· A sound understanding of safe working practices and the ability to prioritise tasks and keep clear records.

· Good communication skills and a courteous, patient approach to residents, visitors and colleagues.

· The ability to work independently within agreed limits and as part of a team.

· A commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality and required training.

· The ability to carry out practical duties safely, with reasonable adjustments where required.

Experience in a care home, healthcare setting or other occupied residential environment is desirable, as are a relevant trade qualification, experience of maintenance schedules and contractor coordination, and basic IT skills for maintenance records.
