Maintenance Service Technician

We’re seeking a dependable HVAC Maintenance Service Technician to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot and repair heating, ventilation and air-conditioning equipment. You’ll help keep systems operating safely, efficiently and reliably for our residential / commercial / industrial customers.

You’ll work independently in the field and collaborate with dispatchers, supervisors and other technicians. The role involves planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, customer communication and accurate service documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment and systems.
• Inspect, clean and service air-conditioning units, furnaces, heat pumps, boilers, ventilation equipment and associated controls.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, airflow and control-system faults using appropriate tools and test equipment.
• Repair or replace faulty components, such as motors, belts, filters, contactors, sensors, thermostats and valves.
• Check refrigerant circuits, temperatures, pressures, airflow and electrical readings, as appropriate to your qualifications and local requirements.
• Identify safety concerns, system deficiencies and opportunities to improve reliability or energy efficiency.
• Explain findings and recommended work clearly and professionally to customers.
• Complete work orders, maintenance checklists, service reports and parts records accurately.
• Follow manufacturer instructions, applicable codes, company procedures and health and safety requirements.
• Maintain tools, vehicle stock and a clean, safe work area.
• Participate in an on-call or emergency service rotation, if required.

Essential qualifications and experience

• Relevant HVAC, refrigeration or mechanical-services qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting HVAC equipment.
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical components, controls and basic refrigeration principles.
• Ability to use hand tools, meters, gauges and other diagnostic equipment safely.
• Understanding of preventive maintenance practices and safe systems of work.
• Strong customer-service and communication skills.
• Ability to complete service records using [mobile app / work-order system].
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to customer sites.
• Any required local refrigerant-handling, electrical or trade licences for the work performed.

Desirable

• Experience in [residential / commercial / industrial] service environments.
• Manufacturer training or qualifications in specific HVAC equipment or controls.
• Experience with building-management systems, programmable controls or energy-management systems.
• Current first-aid, site-safety or working-at-heights training, where relevant.
• Familiarity with diagnosing heat pumps, VRF/VRV systems or ventilation systems.
