What they need

Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor - 1st Shift Position Summary Lead a small, hands-on maintenance team that keeps our production equipment running reliably, with BlueCrest inserting equipment as the primary focus. You will also maintain RISO printers and other production equipment in the rotation, and that mix may grow over time. You will work side by side with your mechanics, coordinate service and support with equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and their technicians and keep preventive maintenance on schedule so production runs without surprises. Some oversight of building and facility needs is included as they arise.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do Equipment Maintenance

  • Serve as the lead maintenance resource for our BlueCrest inserting equipment, which is the primary focus of the role: troubleshoot, repair, and get equipment back in service quickly.
  • Maintain RISO printers and other production equipment as assigned, with the equipment mix expected to change or expand over time.
  • Plan and complete preventive maintenance on all assigned equipment based on OEM guidelines and our site schedule.
  • Find root causes of recurring issues and recommend fixes that reduce downtime.
  • Keep accurate maintenance records, work orders, and parts inventory, including critical spares.

Leading the Team

  • Schedule, assign, coach, and train 3-6 maintenance mechanics; set clear priorities with Production.
  • Pitch in on the floor when needed and build the team’s technical skills over time.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, performance conversations, and a safe, accountable work culture.

OEM & Vendor Coordination

  • Be the main contact for BlueCrest, RISO, and other OEM service technicians, including scheduling visits, describing problems clearly, and following up on repairs and parts.
  • Coordinate outside contractors for facility and specialty work, and keep work on schedule and to specification.

Facilities Support (as needed)

  • Monitor and schedule preventive maintenance on HVAC, compressors and generator, coordinate repairs with contractors, and escalate larger projects to the Plant Manager.

Safety & Budget

  • Enforce lockout/tagout and other safety procedures; correct hazards promptly.
  • Help manage the maintenance budget, control overtime, and recommend equipment improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience (mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting).
  • Ability to read and work from equipment manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and lockout/tagout.
  • Strong communication skills for working with production staff, OEM technicians, and your team.
  • Comfort using computers, including Microsoft Office and a maintenance work-order system.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lead or supervisory experience, formal or informal.
  • Experience with BlueCrest or similar inserting equipment, production printers (RISO or similar), or other mailing, packaging, or high-speed automated equipment.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, sensors, servo drives, or machine controls.
  • Technical school, trade certification, or associate degree.

We Will Train You On Prior BlueCrest, RISO, or print-and-mail experience is a plus but not required. We will provide OEM and on-the-job training on BlueCrest, RISO, and our other production equipment, our software, and our site’s maintenance processes.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk for most of the shift in a production environment.
  • Bend, kneel, climb, and reach, including working in and around machinery.
  • Lift and carry up to [50] lbs; use appropriate lifting aids for heavier items.
  • Wear required PPE, including hearing and eye protection.
