The successful candidate will supervise the maintenance team, coordinate preventative maintenance programmes, respond to maintenance requests, oversee contractors where required, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. A strong focus on quality, operational efficiency, and guest satisfaction is essential.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a maintenance supervisory role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance planning and asset management.
  • Good understanding of Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standard.
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor preventative maintenance programmes for all hotel facilities, plant, equipment, and guest areas.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests, prioritising work to minimise disruption to hotel operations and the guest experience.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house facilities, and equipment to identify maintenance requirements and ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Oversee repairs relating to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance, either personally or through the maintenance team.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) legislation, fire safety regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, asset registers, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Manage maintenance inventory, tools, equipment, and spare parts, ensuring stock levels are controlled and procurement requests are submitted when required.
  • Liaise with external contractors and service providers, ensuring work is completed according to agreed service levels and quality standards.
  • Support the preparation and management of the departmental maintenance budget by controlling costs and identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies.
  • Assist with the implementation of sustainability initiatives, including energy, water, and waste reduction programmes where applicable.
  • Train, coach, and develop maintenance team members to improve technical skills, productivity, and service standards.
  • Collaborate with Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and other departments to ensure maintenance issues are resolved promptly and guest satisfaction is maintained.
  • Participate in emergency response procedures and be available to respond to urgent maintenance issues outside of normal working hours when required.
  • Drive the use of maintenance management systems and digital reporting tools to improve tracking, accountability, and operational performance.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required to support the operational needs of the hotel.
