What they need

Who We Are

We are a venture-backed manufacturing startup building the most advanced automated production facilities in the United States. We are on a mission to make American manufacturing economically viable — through intelligent machinery, automation, and a relentless focus on execution. We are early, we are moving fast, and we are looking for exceptional people who want to build something that matters.

Role Title: Maintenance Technician

Location: Leander, TX; Austin, TX, On-site

Shift: 1st shift, Full-time

Role Summary

We are seeking a motivated Maintenance Technician to join our production team. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the reliable operation of yarn spinning and fabric knitting machinery in a textile mill.

This mid-level role focuses on performing preventive maintenance, rapidly diagnosing and restoring unplanned downtime, and accurately working within the plant’s Preventive Maintenance (PM) asset management system to maximize equipment uptime and production efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair textile yarn spinning machines (e.g., open end, vortex) and circular fabric knitting machines.

  • Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic repairs on production equipment.

  • Diagnose root causes of machine failures and implement effective corrective actions to restore production quickly.

  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks according to the plant’s PM program and manufacturer recommendations.

  • Inspect, clean, lubricate, adjust, and replace wear parts on spinning and knitting equipment.

  • Identify potential issues during PM work and proactively address them before they cause downtime.

  • Respond promptly to breakdown calls and production emergencies.

  • Diagnose faults under time pressure and restore machines to safe, productive operation with minimal delay.

  • Communicate clearly with Production and Supervision regarding estimated repair times and status updates.

  • Accurately record all work orders, parts used, labor hours, and equipment history in the plant’s CMMS / PM asset management system.

  • Close work orders properly and maintain up-to-date asset records.

  • Support continuous improvement of the PM program by providing feedback on task effectiveness and equipment condition.

Additional Duties

  • Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and mill safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and proper care of tools and equipment.
  • Assist with installation, modification, or upgrade of machinery as required.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing downtime.

Basic Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical diploma or associate degree in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or related field preferred.

  • 3–6 years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience, preferably in textile manufacturing (yarn spinning and/or fabric knitting).

  • Proven experience maintaining production machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in bearings, drives, gears, belts, and precision adjustments.

  • Working knowledge of electrical systems (motors, sensors, basic controls) and ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.

  • Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or PM asset system.

  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills under pressure.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good communication skills with production and maintenance personnel.

  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, or overtime as required to support production.

  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.

  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and varying temperatures.

  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when required (with proper PPE, training and certifications as applicable).

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience specifically on yarn spinning frames and circular/flat knitting machines.
  • Basic PLC troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Forklift certification and electrical certification.
