Maintenance Technician

About the role

IBIDEN Electronics Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering team. This is a full-time position based in Bukit Minyak, Penang, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our manufacturing equipment and facilities. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance activities that directly support our production operations and contribute to the company's operational excellence and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and machinery to ensure optimal operational performance
• Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostic work to identify equipment faults and implement corrective measures
• Execute planned maintenance activities in accordance with established schedules and maintenance protocols
• Repair and replace worn or defective components, parts and equipment to minimise downtime
• Maintain detailed maintenance records and documentation for all servicing and repairs carried out
• Collaborate with production teams to schedule maintenance activities and minimise disruption to operations
• Perform equipment inspections and assessments to identify potential issues before they escalate
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies during all maintenance activities
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and maintenance processes

What we're looking for

• Formal qualification or certification in mechanical or electrical maintenance, engineering technician diploma, or equivalent professional experience
• Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Strong knowledge of equipment operation, mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical systems
• Proficiency in using maintenance tools, testing equipment and diagnostic instruments
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and maintenance manuals
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Commitment to health and safety practices and compliance with regulatory requirements
• Flexibility to work shift patterns if required by operational needs
• Preferred experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) or computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS)
