Maintenance Technician

Overview
Great Barrington Housing Authority is currently accepting applications for an experienced Maintenance Technician for our three State Funded property locations in Great Barrington and Sheffield. This is a full-time 40-hour a-week position working 5 days per week, days to be determined with an emergency on-call rotation schedule. This position includes health insurance and paid time off to include vacation, personal, and sick time after successful completion of 90 worked days probationary period. There is also an optional deferred compensation retirement plan available after successful completion of your probationary period. Duties will include but are not limited to cleaning, sweeping/mopping daily, daily property walk/clean up, light electrical, light plumbing. painting, installing flooring, unit turns, small/minor repairs, snow removal, lawn mowing, minor repair of in-house maintenance equipment, customer service, and experience in public housing is helpful but not required. These duties are subject to change based on property needs.
The successful candidate will need to pass a criminal background check, have a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, including minor electrical, plumbing, and assessing HVAC systems.
• Conduct inspections of facilities to identify issues requiring attention and implement corrective measures.
• Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders and maintenance schedules.
• Operate tools such as Ohmmeters for electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• Assist with residential painting projects as required to maintain aesthetic standards of the facility.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inventory of supplies.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient operations and address any facility-related concerns.

Experience

• Proven experience in facilities maintenance or a related field is required.
• Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with team members and document maintenance activities.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong attention to detail is essential for success in this role.
• Strong customer service communications skills necessary.
• Certifications in OSHA, Electrical, Plumbing, Conflict of Interest, Open Meeting Law, Sexual Harrassment is recommended if you have them, otherwise training will be provided.

Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
