Maintenance Technician / Handyman Contractor

Via Luxury Rentals & Property Management is a boutique luxury short-term rental management company seeking a reliable, skilled Maintenance Technician / Handyman Contractor to maintain our portfolio of high-end Austin homes.

You will handle routine maintenance, repairs, and occasional time-sensitive requests with professionalism and attention to detail. We offer consistent weekly work and the opportunity to build a long-term relationship, with additional hours and larger projects available based on performance and property needs. Often times these can occur at odd hours of the day/night.

Duties

• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC units, building interior finishes, and mechanical equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Repair and troubleshoot electrical equipment using schematics, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools; perform electrical work including wiring, outlets, switches, and circuit repairs.
• Perform plumbing system maintenance and repairs such as pipe fixes, fixture replacements, leak detection, and drain cleaning.
• Mount TVs; assemble furniture; install shelves, artwork, fixtures, and hardware.
• Repair toilets and address minor plumbing issues; caulk showers, tubs, tile, and countertops.
• Repair doors, handles, hinges, cabinetry, fences, and gates.
• Install and troubleshoot smart locks.
• Patch drywall, paint walls, and complete touch-ups.
• Perform property inspections and preventive maintenance; troubleshoot household issues independently and flag repairs requiring specialized help.
• Keep work areas clean, protect furnishings and finishes, and respect guest privacy.
• Provide clear updates and before-and-after photos documenting completed work.Experienced painters are encouraged to apply. Significant additional painting work may be available for the right person.

Qualifications

• Previous handyman, maintenance, construction, or property management experience, ideally in high-end homes.
• Comfortable handling a variety of household repairs with careful workmanship and strong attention to detail.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly in English both verbally and in writing.
• Located within approximately 30 minutes of Downtown Austin, with reliable transportation and your own basic tools.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to complete projects on time.
• Able to troubleshoot independently, communicate clearly, and respond promptly.
• Available for regular weekly work and occasional time-sensitive maintenance requests.
• Fluency in English preferred; fluency in Spanish is a bonus.
