Maintenance Technician

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and machinery to ensure safe and reliable operation.

This is a hands-on maintenance position that involves mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, installations, and general plant maintenance. The role also includes welding and fabrication work as required to support equipment repairs, modifications, and projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience working with industrial equipment, and the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues efficiently. Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, bearings, gearboxes, welding, and fabrication is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve equipment failures as well as perform periodic inspections of equipment and systems
• Perform mechanical repair & maintenance activities throughout the plant on equipment and facilities.
• Motors, hydraulics & pneumatic systems, bearings & gearboxes. Water heating and cooling systems. Reading blueprints and schematics. Equipment installations & rigging.
• Welding & fabrication. Utilize Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement to maximize equipment output and processes
• Execute preventative maintenance activities including troubleshooting and repairs to all production equipment, hydraulic systems and pumps in a timely manner
• Utilize the computerized maintenance management system for processing work orders, PM’s and updating the equipment database.
• Support divisional and corporate objectives including health & safety, productivity, continuous improvement, innovation, quality, and waste Qualifications
• Exceptional mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Knowledgeable of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and possesses a strong safety focus.
• Experience with electronics & PLCs. AC & DC motors and controls an asset.
• Ability to operate specialized vehicles such as forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a welder and fabricator.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, measurements, and work instructions.
• Experience working with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Good communication skills in English.
• Physically able to perform job duties, including lifting, bending, standing, climbing, and working in industrial environments.

Experience Requirements

• Welding certification or trade training is must.
• Experience in a MRF (Material Recovery Facility), manufacturing, or industrial environment maintenance is a must.
• Experience with custom fabrication and equipment repair.
• Forklift, scissor lift, or overhead crane experience is an asset.
• Physically fit & able to negotiate inclines, stairs and ladders able to perform physically demanding activities while working in all types of extreme hot and cold environments, both indoors and outdoors. The job requires bending, kneeling, crawling, stooping, and standing for long periods of time. Must be physically able to push, pull, and lift 50 lbs. Working in conditions may include exposure to noise, dust and temperature changes.

Pay: $30.00-$38.00 per hour
