ASHWAUBENON SCHOOL DISTRICT

Position is available at Ashwaubenon High School. Hours are 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., during the school year, Monday through Friday. During the summer months, flexible daytime hours are available.

JOB DESCRIPTION - MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN–BUILDING OPERATIONS

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Five years’ experience as a maintenance technician or equivalent.

3. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the basic techniques of electrical repair, plumbing, carpentry and grounds maintenance.

4. Demonstrates good communication skills.

5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board or their designee find necessary or appropriate.

Reports To: Facilities & Maintenance Coordinator

Job Goal: To maintain the physical school plant and grounds in a condition of operating excellence so that its educational use may be maximized at all times.

Performance
Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for day-to-day repair of minor mechanical, electrical, plumbing and carpentry problems.

2. Responsible for the energy conservation within their building through monitoring temperature and lighting controls during work hours.

3. Maintain the school grounds including snow removal on entrances and sidewalks adjacent to the building, keeping sidewalks free of ice, cutting grass, trimming trees and bushes, picking up debris, raking, pulling weeds and sweeping sidewalks as directed.

4. Assemble and move furniture, cabinets, equipment and supplies as directed.

5. Responsible for the security of the building.

6. Perform such custodial duties as:

(a) Sweeping and mopping floors, halls and steps as per work schedule.

(b) Change light bulbs.

(c) Pick up and dispose of garbage during the workday.

(d) Paint walls, window frames, building, benches and other areas as scheduled.

(e) Clean any rooms assigned by the Head Maintenance Technician.

7. Annually clean the boilers, and all air registers within the building.

8. Responsible for protecting the building against fire hazards, safety hazards and deterioration whenever possible through watchfulness, the performing of minor repairs or the prompt reporting of the need for major repairs.

9. Responsible for keys entrusted to his/her possession and shall not give them to others at any time or under any pretext unless so instructed by the Facilities & Maintenance
   Coordinator.

10. Perform such other regular jobs as are generally expected of a maintenance technician/custodian and such other tasks as assigned by the Head Maintenance
    Technician or the Facilities & Maintenance Coordinator.

11. Strive constantly to promote the safety, health and comfort of the students and employees.

12. Responsible for the school building and its physical operation on a year-round basis.
