PRODUCTION MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN / GENERAL HANDYMAN

All Book Covers Arizona, Inc. – Tempe, AZ Full-Time or Part-Time | In-House Position All Book Covers Arizona, Inc. is looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined Production Maintenance Technician / General Handyman to join our manufacturing team.

We are looking for an all-around hands-on problem solver who can help maintain, troubleshoot, repair, adjust, and perform preventative maintenance on our production equipment and assist with general facility maintenance.

This is an in-house full-time or part-time position , not a freelance, contract, or as-needed maintenance role. When maintenance needs are caught up, this position will also assist with general production responsibilities as needed.

Equipment & Maintenance Responsibilities Our production environment includes equipment such as:

• Foil stamping machines and presses
• RF (radio frequency) heat sealing/debossing equipment
• Gluing and adhesive application machines
• Cutting and finishing equipment
• Production presses and related machinery
• Pneumatic equipment and air lines
• Small motors, switches, belts, bearings, rollers, heating elements, and mechanical components
• Hand tools, power tools, and general shop equipment

Responsibilities May Include

• Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical equipment issues
• Diagnose equipment problems and determine practical repairs
• Perform routine preventative maintenance
• Adjust, lubricate, clean, and maintain production machinery
• Replace worn or damaged components such as belts, bearings, switches, hoses, fittings, and hardware
• Assist with machine setup, adjustments, and changeovers
• Help minimize production downtime by addressing equipment issues promptly
• Maintain an organized inventory of common maintenance parts, tools, and supplies
• Identify equipment that may require outside/vendor service
• Coordinate with management and machine operators regarding maintenance needs
• Help establish preventative maintenance schedules and maintenance records

General Handyman / Facility Responsibilities This position will also assist with general maintenance around our production facility, including tasks such as:

• Minor plumbing repairs
• Basic electrical troubleshooting and fixture replacement within appropriate skill/licensing limits
• Assembly and installation of shelving, workstations, fixtures, and equipment
• Doors, hardware, cabinets, worktables, and general repairs
• Minor painting, patching, and facility upkeep
• Moving, installing, leveling, or securing production equipment
• General shop organization and improvement projects

PRODUCTION SUPPORT

When there are no immediate maintenance or repair needs, this position will be expected to assist our production team.

Production Responsibilities May Include

• Assisting machine operators
• Material handling
• Machine setup and cleanup
• Gluing and assembly
• Packaging and finishing
• Moving materials and finished goods
• Quality checks
• General production-floor support as needed

We are looking for someone who understands that this is a hybrid maintenance and production position rather than a maintenance-only position.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate Is

• Mechanically inclined and comfortable working with machinery
• Experienced using hand and power tools
• Able to troubleshoot problems rather than only replace parts
• Familiar with basic mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and machine components
• Comfortable working around older and newer production equipment
• Willing to learn specialized machinery unique to our manufacturing operation
• Dependable, organized, and safety-conscious
• Comfortable working independently and communicating with production staff
• Willing to jump into production and other hands-on tasks when needed
• Resourceful and capable of finding practical solutions to everyday equipment and facility problems

Previous experience in manufacturing, printing, bindery, packaging, fabrication, machine maintenance, industrial maintenance, or a similar production environment is preferred.

Experience specifically with foil stamping, RF equipment, or gluing equipment is helpful but not required if you have strong mechanical aptitude and are willing to learn. POSITION TYPE

Full-Time or Part-Time This is an employee position working at our Tempe production facility. We are not looking for contract, freelance, or on-call/as-needed maintenance services for this opening. Schedule, hours, and compensation can be discussed based on experience and availability.
