Fairfield Inn & Suites Chesapeake Greenbrier is looking for a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Technician to join our hotel team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, fixing problems, and keeping a property in excellent condition. The ideal candidate is proactive, takes pride in their work, and understands the importance of responding quickly and professionally to guest and operational needs.

Schedule

This position will work primarily evening shifts from 3pm-11pm, with some 12:00 PM–8:00 PM shifts based on hotel needs.

Weekend and holiday availability is required.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to guestroom and hotel maintenance requests
• Perform routine repairs involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, fixtures, furniture, and general building systems
• Troubleshoot guestroom issues including toilets, sinks, showers, lighting, televisions, refrigerators, door hardware, and HVAC/PTAC units
• Complete preventative maintenance in guestrooms and public areas
• Perform minor painting, drywall repair, caulking, and other cosmetic repairs
• Maintain the pool and pool equipment according to hotel procedures and applicable requirements
• Complete routine property inspections and identify maintenance concerns before they become larger problems
• Maintain hotel grounds, exterior areas, mechanical spaces, and maintenance work areas
• Assist with moving furniture, equipment, supplies, and other hotel items as needed
• Respond professionally to guest maintenance concerns and communicate unresolved issues to management
• Document completed work and communicate outstanding repairs or parts needed
• Follow all safety, security, and hotel procedures
• Work closely with Front Desk, Housekeeping, and hotel leadership to keep guestrooms available and minimize rooms being placed out of order
• Assist with other property maintenance needs as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous hotel, apartment, facilities, construction, or general maintenance experience preferred
• General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and building maintenance preferred
• Experience troubleshooting PTAC/HVAC equipment is a plus
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests
• Professional communication skills when interacting with guests and coworkers
• Comfortable using basic hand and power tools
• Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and supplies
• Must be available for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts

We're looking for someone who doesn't just wait for a work order. A strong Maintenance Technician notices problems, takes ownership of them, and helps prevent small issues from becoming expensive ones.

Because this position works primarily during the evening, the technician must be comfortable working independently and responding to maintenance needs when senior maintenance leadership may not be on property.
