Maintenance Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable, hands-on Hotel Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong general maintenance skills and practical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, drywall repair, painting, flooring/carpet cleaning, electrical, and basic mechanical systems.

This position is responsible for keeping the hotel, guest rooms, common areas, equipment, and exterior areas safe, clean, functional, and well-maintained. The successful candidate should be able to troubleshoot problems, perform repairs independently, and respond quickly to maintenance requests.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout the hotel and guest rooms.
• Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on HVAC systems, including heating, cooling, thermostats, filters, and related equipment.
• Perform basic plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, drains, sinks, leaks, and water fixtures.
• Repair drywall, including patching holes, cracks, and damaged areas.
• Perform basic painting and touch-up work as needed.
• Clean and maintain carpets, including carpet spot cleaning and carpet extraction.
• Perform basic electrical repairs such as replacing switches, outlets, light fixtures, and bulbs, within applicable safety and licensing requirements.
• Repair or replace doors, locks, hinges, handles, furniture, fixtures, and other hotel equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on guest rooms, HVAC units, plumbing fixtures, appliances, and hotel equipment.
• Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests.
• Inspect guest rooms and public areas and identify maintenance issues before they become larger problems.
• Maintain hotel exterior areas and assist with basic grounds and property maintenance.
• Keep maintenance areas, tools, and equipment organized and in good working condition.
• Maintain accurate records of completed work and report major issues to management.
• Follow all hotel safety procedures and applicable building, fire, and health regulations.
• Assist outside contractors and service technicians when specialized repairs are required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in hotel, apartment, building, or commercial maintenance preferred.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, drywall repair, painting, and carpet cleaning.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on various equipment and systems within the hotel and throughout the exterior of the property.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues to determine the best course of action for repairs
• Fabricate and install new equipment or components as needed
• Conduct regular inspections to identify potential maintenance needs
• Supervise and coordinate maintenance activities with other team members
• General knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to use common hand and power tools safely.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize maintenance requests.
• Good communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to work around guests and maintain a professional and courteous manner.
• Ability to lift, carry, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and perform physical maintenance duties.
• Must be dependable, punctual, and willing to respond to urgent maintenance issues when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous hotel maintenance experience.
• HVAC certification or experience.
• Plumbing or electrical experience.
• Experience with commercial building systems.
• Experience with pool/spa maintenance is a plus.
• Experience with preventive maintenance programs is a plus.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
