Maintenance Technician

CARDINAL ETHANOL in Colwich, KS, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Maintenance Technician supports all operational areas by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and completing repairs to ensure production equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently while minimizing downtime and costs.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical issues on plant and processing equipment, such as wiring, circuits, fuses, switches, transformers, motors, and drives, using diagnostic equipment.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or management.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders and inventory.
• Collaborate with other team members to prioritize and complete maintenance projects.
• Provide exceptional customer service to internal stakeholders.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in facilities maintenance or a related field.
• Strong instrumentation and electrical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency in reading schematics and logic controllers.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to supervise others as needed.
• Participate in on-call rotation to support the production facility.

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 -2 years of vocational training or equivalent experience in maintenance mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, machine shop, electricity, electronics, and programmable computers.
• Knowledge and experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting production machinery and electrical systems.
• Experience maintaining plant and production equipment, including mechanical and some electrical repairs, is preferred.
• Experience in an automotive repair shop is beneficial.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent climbing, stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, twisting, bending, kneeling, crawling, and grasping.
• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Lift and carry 70-100 lbs.
• Repetitively lift and carry 20 and 50 lbs.
• Frequently lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs (unassisted).
• Use hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments, both mechanical and electrical.
• Work in confined spaces and climb several flights of stairs and ladders up to 200 feet.
• Hearing and vision (near and far acuity).
• Exposure to environmental conditions (frequently walking indoors and outdoors), including extreme cold and warm temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees.
